Nintendo announced in 2009 it will be offering video rentals through the Wii game console next year.

Nintendo is creating programming which will allow Wii users to connect to the Internet and view films on their television.

Viewers will need to pay to see some of the programs, while others will be offered free of charge and accompanied by ads.
